Position: Marketing/Communications Associate
Position Type: Permanent, Part-time (20-25 hrs. weekly)
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island (SCCRI) seeks a Marketing/Communications Associate to contribute to a burgeoning creative organization whose projects and campaigns make a positive impact in our community. This exceptionally organized associate is responsible for promoting and supporting Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island’s (SCCRI) events and programs. The successful detail-oriented candidate will develop and coordinate the center’s print and media communication materials: crafting and following up on press releases; managing website content, marketing and donor fundraising campaigns, and social media messaging; and directing and reviewing collateral materials. The Marketing/Communications Associate will work directly with the center’s Executive and Program Directors in all areas of marketing and communications.
Project Coordination : Coordinate all marketing, publicity and advertising from inception to delivery, and liaise with Program Director to ensure materials align with SCCRI ’s branding guidelines.
Writing: Draft and edit content for a wide range of communication deliverables, including press releases, social media posts, web content, reports, proposals and presentations.
Media Relations: Assist with developing media strategies, drafting responses to media inquiries, and pitching and placing content with publishers and bloggers. Develop and manage relationships with media contacts.
Events: Provide planning, coordination, communications and marketing for workshops, ribbon cuttings, screenings, fundraising parties, and other stakeholder meetings and events.
Audience/Client/Partner Development: Design creative strategies to increase audience base, community and corporate partners, and clients in project activities and events.
Community Events: Research and attend community events, meetings, and tabling events, and work with SCCRI staff to schedule participation as appropriate.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field;
Minimum three years professional experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations preferably with a non-profit or arts organization.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Google software, Mailchimp (or other email marketing); Donor Perfect a plus; Graphic Design and ability to use Adobe Creative Suite software to create print and web marketing collateral digital photography skills a plus
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; with excellent attention to detail
An outgoing, confident personal and professional style and good sense of humor.
Ability to thrive in a self-directed environment and as a productive team member with some off-site responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environment;
Relevant media relationships and proven track record of positive press placements a plus.
Experience with SEO/SEM campaigns (a plus)
